One of the most stylish and upscale of Bali’s resort areas, Seminyak boasts some of the most glorious beaches on the island. Situated on the west coast of Bali, its beaches offer stunning sunsets, tranquil waves, as well as a rich taste of culture. Here are 6 of the best beaches in Seminyak.
1. Best For Relaxing & Sun-Lounging: Double Six Beach
Double Six beach is a smooth golden-white sand beach that stretches for half a kilometre on the coast. It has a quiet aura that allows you to sit back, relax and watch the crashing waves or lie down to bask in the glorious sunset above.
2. Best For Surfing & Horse-Riding: Petitenget Beach
Huge crashing waves make Petitenget beach a favoured surfing destination, and its vast, flat surface covered in lush, sandy-white sand is ideal for horse riding.
Note that this beach is not ideal for swimming, due to its strong riptides and undercurrents, so it’s best to avoid going into the water unless you’re a pro.
3. Best For Chilling With The Family: Batu Belig Beach
Contrary to most of the crowded beaches in the Seminyak area, Batu Belig beach is a silent, tranquil beach covered in grayish brown, soft, sand spread out from east to west. The lack of crowds makes it perfect for a chilled family outing, and you can enjoy the different shades of the sea as the waves crash with white bubbles.
4. Best For Surfing: Berawa Beach
Berawa beach is a trove for avid surfers who want a less crowded coast with its huge, strong waves and rocky reefs that anchor the dark grey and black sand at high tide. Around sunset, however, it is quite calm and offers great views from the nearby bars and chill-out spots.
It is best to avoid swimming on this beach, as its currents are too strong.
5. Best For Surfing, Canoeing, Enjoying The Sunset: Kelan Beach
Whether you want to surf, canoe, or enjoy the sunset, Kelan beach is the perfect spot for these activities. It is just south of the Ngurah Rai international airport runway, so you can watch the planes take off and land with the sunset in the background. Its waves are not best for swimming, so feel free to take out a boat or a surfboard to enjoy the water.
6. Best for Snorkelling & Water Sports: Sanur Beach
Snorkeling on Sanur beach is only one of the activities you can try your hand at. The beach is covered in golden sand, which blends perfectly with the sparkling blue water. It’s also protected by an outer reef, which makes it safe to swim and enjoy water sports at high tide. You can enjoy a stroll along the coastline and see the bright, painted outrigger boats.
